FINAL All-State Baseball Noms (NorCal)
Here’s the updated, edited list of nominees for the 44th annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Baseball Teams from the CIF Central Coast, Central, North Coast, SF/Oakland, Northern and Sac-Joaquin Sections. Thanks to everyone who sent in nominations and info in support of those already on the list from the previous version of these lists. It’s still...
Mr. Baseball 2026: Jared Grindlinger
Leading Huntington Beach to the CIF SoCal D1 regional championship and ranking as the top two-way player in the nation for the upcoming MLB Draft helps last year’s State Sophomore of the Year gain the highest overall state honor for this season. It was not an easy decision, but Jared has become the second ever […]
More Baseball State Players of the Year
Just like with Mr. Baseball, the State Junior of the Year honor also is claimed by a player who has reclassified and in the case of Norco’s Jordan Ayala he reclassified into the same class as a teammate who perhaps would have been Junior of the Year if he was still a sophomore. Highly ranked […]
State Coach of the Year: Gary Parcell
The 34th season for longtime Norco High baseball coach Gary Parcell didn’t end with a CIF Southern Section D1 title, but reaching the final in the toughest playoff bracket in the nation was enough for him to land top California coaching honors for the 2026 season. He’s just the second-ever State Coach of the Year […]
MLB Draft Booms & Busts
With annual selection of high school players for the MLB Draft now proposed to be stopped by the league itself, we thought about all of the high schoolers from California who’ve been selected in the first round since the draft began in 1965. Here’s a ranking of the top 12 of those players plus a...

City Section, CIF San Diego Section and CIF Southern Section. Just as with the previously posted lists of nominees from Northern California, we […]
Baseball: FINAL Ranks By Divisions
It’s rare that all five No. 1 teams didn’t change from the first run-through of teams we did according to CIF divisions, but they didn’t for the final rankings. Two of those were CIF Southern Section teams that opted out of the regional playoffs, but Roseville (D3), Half Moon Bay (D4) and Coastal Academy of...
FINAL Baseball State TOP 40 Rankings
(Click Arrows to See More Photos on home page) These are the final state rankings that go into our archives that join other final state rankings for each season back more than 40 years. A few teams are still ranked higher than teams they lost to in regional or section playoffs, but those that gained...
St. John Bosco: State Team of Year
No, this isn’t a repost of last season. The Bellflower school has indeed repeated as the No. 1 team in the state for the second straight season despite losing in last week’s CIF SoCal D1 playoffs. The Braves’ accomplishment of repeating as CIF Southern Section D1 champions was too much, especially compared to what happened […]
More Baseball State Teams of Year
State Team of the Year honors for the 2026 baseball season also are going out for the four other CIF based playoff divisions. We have done teams of the year in five divisions for many years and these mythical honors considered all teams that played in CIF section playoffs (including those that opted out of […]
