CA Live ’27: June Live Events Announced

For the first time ever in 2027, California will host two June Scholastic Live Period events (June 11-13, 25-27) to maximize opportunities for our state’s basketball players in front of college coaches.

SCIBCA and BABCA Announce 2027 California NCAA Scholastic Viewing Period Events

Orange County, CA / San Francisco, CA — The Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association (SCIBCA) and Bay Area Basketball Coaches Association (BABCA) are pleased to announce three NCAA Live Period Scholastic Viewing Period events in California during June, 2027.

The goal is to provide to boys and girls student-athletes in the state of California and the Southwest Region the highest level of opportunity to compete in front of college coaches during the NCAA live period. NorCal Live (June 11-13) is designed to provide  to boys high school teams access to college recruiters and create opportunities for teams to earn entry into Boys CA Live the week of June 27-29.

The three events, sanctioned through the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), are:

June 11–13: NORCAL Boys CA Live ’27

Host: BABCA | Location: Roebbelen Center, Roseville

(The event will feature bracket play, with participating teams having the opportunity to earn a bid to the Boys CaliLive ’27 during the second NCAA June Live Period  in Southern California two weeks later.)

June 17–19: Girls CA Live ’27

Host: SCIBCA | Location: Ladera Sports Center, Ladera Ranch

June 25–27: Boys CA Live ’27

Host: SCIBCA | Location: Ladera Sports Center & Tesoro High School, Orange County

Teams will be able to apply for all three events beginning in March around the conclusion of the 2027 CIF state championships. Each event will have its own application process and each application will be available online at babca.org and socal.nhsbca.org.

The June Scholastic Live Period for California high school basketball was first sanctioned through the CIF and NFHS in June 2023. Since then, SCIBCA and BABCA have worked together to provide a statewide platform for high school basketball, alternating boys and girls events between Northern and Southern California. In 2026, the live period event for boys basketball was held in NorCal and for girls in SoCal. Girls CA Live will remain in Southern California for the second year in a row, while boys teams will have two NCAA-sanctioned opportunities: NorCal Live and CA Live. The NCAA sanctions two live period weekends for boys basketball and the goal of hosting events in California both live weekends is to increase opportunities for California’s student-athletes, as the NorCal event will serve as an exclusive qualifier for Boys CA Live ’27

The NCAA June Scholastic LivePeriod is designed specifically for high school teams, allowing student-athletes to compete for their high school during the summer while being evaluated by college coaches. Unlike club events, teams, players and coaches represent their high schools, and participating schools must be sanctioned through their state association. The format also provides student-athletes with a lower-cost opportunity to be seen by college coaches through reduced team entry fees, spectator admission and coach materials.

The California events have quickly established themselves as premier scholastic basketball recruiting opportunities. More than 250 Division I and other college coaches attended Boys CaliLive ’25 in Southern California, while more than 150 college coaches attended both the 2026 NorCal boys event and Girls CaliLive ’26. The events primarily feature California high schools while also attracting top programs from neighboring states.

Randy Bessolo (NorCal Live Event Manager) and Chris Nordstrom (CA Live Event Manager) issued the following statement regarding the events for 2027: “SCIBCA and BABCA are committed to creating the best possible opportunities for California high school basketball players. By working together across Northern and Southern California, we can provide significantly more student-athletes with meaningful competition and increased exposure to college coaches at all levels.”
