Mr. Basketball State Player of the Year Jason Crowe Jr. from Inglewood, State Junior of the Year NaVorro Bowman Jr. of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and NorCal Player of the Year Elias Obenyah of Richmond Salesian are among the headliners on the 47th annual Cal-Hi Sports all-state boys basketball teams. Go inside to see why […]
Ms. Basketball 2026: Kaleena Smith
Choosing a junior for the state’s longest-running and perhaps most prestigious individual honor can create some problems, but it was no problem at all that Ontario Christian’s very special point guard who averaged 31.5 ppg for the CIF Open Division state champions has to be Ms. Basketball for 2026. Kaleena will now look to become […]
More Girls BB Players of the Year
In addition to Ms. Basketball, Ontario Christian grabs another state player of the year honor with Tati Griffin among the sophomores leading the way. The toughest selection by far was for seniors, which had to be done this year with a junior in the overall top spot. For the CIF divisional winners, presented by new […]
Mr. Basketball 2026: Jason Crowe Jr.
There was plenty of competition, but because of his individual dominance and career-shattering numbers, it’s not hard to tab Jason Crowe Jr. of Inglewood as the 2025-26 choice for Mr. Basketball in California. In addition to his state record accolades, his overall play as one of the nation’s best players helped the Missouri-bound guard earn […]
Boys BB: More State Players of the Year
Presented by new partners Brite Legacy, congratulations to all of the Cal-Hi Sports 2026 top honorees for juniors, sophomores and freshmen and for each CIF division with Open & D1 combined. The CIF Southern Section sweeps all of the class-by-class honors, but the CIF Central Section gets two of the four according to divisions.
Mr. Football 2025: Trent Mosley
The last two performances for the senior standout from Santa Margarita Catholic of Rancho Santa Margarita wound up being the difference in a close call over two others. Mosley is the first-ever winner of the state’s longest-running player of the year honor from his school, but he’s the eighth in the last 10 years from […]
Teagan O’Dell: State Athlete of Year
Record-breaking, multi-event swimmer Teagan O’Dell from Santa Margarita takes the honor of being the top overall athlete on the girls side for the 2024-25 school year. There have been single-sport swimmers selected for this honor in the past, but Teagan is the first one from Orange County since multi-gold medal winner Janet Evans in 1989. […]
More State Girls Athletes of Year
To go with overall honoree Teagan O’Dell, we have others selected as the best among girls athletes for juniors, sophomores, freshmen and those from divisions (D1, D2, D3, D4 and D5) for the 2024-25 school year. Last year’s top honoree, Ventura’s Sadie Engelhardt, is picked again, this time for D2. We also have a flag […]
McKay Madsen: State Athlete of Year
Clovis North of Fresno’s McKay Madsen completed one of the most rare double-doubles in CIF state track history after enjoying an all-state first team season at running back/linebacker. This year’s State Athlete of the Year for the boys also is a very cool one since he was named for a previous winner. For a look […]
