Senior LB/TE T.J. Amosa (left) and unbeaten team at Mary Star (San Pedro) will be top five for small schools entering big game this week vs 8-0 St. Bernard (Playa del Rey). At right is state-leading passer Juju Hernandez of Tulare Western, who’s team moved up inside the top 20 of this week’s medium schools state rankings. As the regular season winds down over the next two weeks (three in a couple of NorCal sections), there should be some movement in these rankings. Still at No. 1 this week is Huntington Beach (medium) and Hilmar (small). Destiny Christian of Sacramento (team that beat Grant of Sacramento) qualifies as medium and makes a big jump this week. Others moving up include Tulare Western (medium), St. Bernard of Playa del Rey (small) and Shafter (small).

(There also will be final five divisional state rankings done after the season so that we continue to have an archive of them going back to the early 1980s)
