De La Salle, Pittsburg and Cardinal Newman lead the way in a section that gets going a week later than most schools in Southern California. There’s a few other schools — San Ramon Valley and Acalanes — that have more than one player written up as well. This is the next-to-last installment in our annual series of preseason all-section football teams that will then end with the annual preseason all-state teams.
Note: These preseason all-section teams are done in the same 30-player format as the annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football Teams. That means it’s not a one through 30 player ranking. There has to be certain numbers of players at each position — 11 on offense with kicker, 11 on defense with punter plus six multi-purpose. They are based on a combination of what the players did last season and college recruiting. Transfers may not be included if not reported yet, haven’t played for a new school yet, or info on a transfer from previous school isn’t available.
