NEW Girls BB State TOP 25 Rankings

No. 6 Archbishop Mitty has started out strong, as expected, in the West Catholic Athletic League. The team is still looking to get back to full strength due to injury in the coming weeks. Photo: Harold Abend / Cal-Hi Sports.

League play is either starting this week or in full swing around the state but the top teams still have some showcase games left. Some have questioned why there are not more teams from the CIF Southern Section in the rankings and so many from Northern California. The answer is competitive equity. The CIFSS teams that played in the major tournaments over the holidays didn’t fare anywhere near as well as teams from Northern California, and the Southern California tournaments did not have the same level of competition evidenced by the fact Piedmont won the SoCal Holiday Classic. This week’s biggest changes are from Pinewood’s win against Salesian of Richmond with an impact transfer becoming eligible.
