NEW Softball State TOP 35 Rankings

It’s a big week for Orange County as Orange Lutheran, Pacifica (Garden Grove) and Canyon (Anaheim) have all moved up into the top five and OLu goes to third. One of our choices this week is pitcher Jonathan Guardado from Nogales of La Puente, who threw his fourth no-hitter of the season and along with a pitcher from Sage Hill (Newport Beach) is just one away from tying state record. Our other honorees are from Petaluma, Porterville and Ramona.

NorCal/SoCal Players of the Week

Big-time recruit Jaelan Phillips does something to get this week’s SoCal Defensive POW honor and get his name into the state record book. Our NorCal Offensive POW, meanwhile, throws for nearly 500 yards in 74-32 win. Other chosen this week are from Atherton, Petaluma, Villa Park and Santa Maria.

All-State Baseball: Underclass

With the Fourth of July hot dogs back in the freezer, we keep the fireworks going with the first post of the 35th annual Cal-Hi Sports all-state teams for baseball. This post honors top juniors, sophomores and even two freshmen who all played beyond their years.

Only one is named from each region for offense, defense and special teams and we’re going to do our best to spread it around as much as possible. This week’s honors go to Farmersville, San Francisco, Petaluma, Upland, San Diego and La Quinta.
