NEW State Softball TOP 25 Rankings

The Del Oro of Loomis softball team will likely start the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section D2 playoffs with just one loss (later avenged) and sitting at No. 1 in California for the first time in school history. Photo: Del Oro HS Athletics (MaxPreps.com.)

We were going to skip one week of softball rankings due a spring football event we covered on Sunday plus we need to finish up the girls basketball all-state teams. We had to do an update, however, since there is a new No. 1 team plus other changes further down due to wild-and-wacky league races in the CIF Southern Section. The new No. 1 is Del Oro of Loomis, which could win out with a 31-1 or 32-1 final record after the NorCal D1 championship. It’s the first time Del Oro has been No. 1 in the state at any time in any of our rankings (which go back nearly 50 years) in any sport.

Note: This is a post for Gold Club members only on CalHiSports.com. All preseason and/or first rankings for any season are free as a sample of the work we do on a regular basis (and for more than 40 years in five sports). All regular season weekly and final state rankings, however, are available only to our Gold Club members as well as our state stat star of the week honor rolls. Some of our the eventual all-state teams also will be for Gold Club members only.
