NEW Girls BB Division State Ranks

The starting five for Archbishop Mitty of San Jose has only been together for a few games due to injury, but showed what it could do in Saturday’s big win over nationally ranked Clovis West. Photo: Harold Abend.

Five of the six teams that were placed No. 1 in these rankings after Tuesday’s first round of the CIF regional playoffs are still there as we head to regional finals on Tuesday. Still No. 1 are Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth (Open), St. Mary’s of Stockton (D1), Colfax (D3), San Domenico of San Anselmo (D4) and Fall River of McArthur (D5). The only new No. 1 after Saturday’s games is Pleasant Valley of Chico (D2). These rankings will be done again after next Saturday’s CIF state finals in Sacramento.

Note: This is a post for Gold Club members only on CalHiSports.com. After the first rankings, the second update and then the final state rankings are available only to our Gold Club members as well as our state stat star of the week honor rolls. To check out getting a Gold Club membership to see all of those rankings plus all of our updated state record lists, totally authentic historical features, recruiting player ratings and more, CLICK HERE.

Note: These rankings are based on the usual factors of schedule strength, head-to-head wins and results through the semifinals of the regional playoffs. We can’t obviously do division rankings until after the CIF announces regional brackets since no one knows which divisions to put any of the teams in. We also like to do these rankings since the upcoming divisional all-state teams will be based on these same divisions.
