Boys BB: Divisional All-State 2020

Amound Anderson (left) from Leuzinger of Lawndale made it for all-state in D3 despite team having a losing record. He hit for 26.8 ppg, went over 2,100 career points and earned a scholarship to Cal State Northridge. At right is all-state Open/D1 guard Anthony Roy of Dublin. He knocked in 17.8 ppg, including 22 with eight rebounds in a NorCal Open Division win vs. Bellarmine of San Jose. Photos: Hudl.com & David Gershon / SportStars.

This was year two of doing our traditional Cal-Hi Sports All-State Divisional Boys Basketball Teams with the CIF’s switch to competitive equity-based playoff divisions. These teams are based on the CIF state divisions (not sections) and in some cases we had to extrapolate where teams would have been placed for the CIF state playoffs to determine all-state divisional placement. If that sounds confusing, welcome to CIF section/state rules and regulations that really do change every single season. The bottom line is that we still have more than 60 players for Open/Division I all-state, 30 for Division II all-state, 24 for Division III all-state and 15 for Division IV and Division V.

Note: We hope you enjoy this free post on CalHiSports.com. Updated class-by-class player rankings by managing editor Ronnie Flores will be coming in May and will be for Gold Club members only. Our all-state hoops patch for this year is now available to order. This year’s patches are being delivered this week to our partners at BillyTees.com.

To order a commemorative, official All-State Basketball patch for those who’ve been named to one of our all-state teams for the 2020 season, go to THIS LINK at BillyTees.com. The special link has been set up for all-state basketball patches. Billy Tees has been the official merchandiser of the CIF for many years. Also from BillyTees.com, schools that were supposed to be in the CIF state finals can still get gear as if those games were played.
