Medium/Small School FB Ranks

Legit medium school Acalanes of Lafayette (players shown at left before recent game) is likely going to be 9-1 after the regular season with just a four-point loss to St. Ignatius but will have to play a team like De La Salle or Cardinal Newman in the CIF North Coast Section playoffs (which to be honest is just horrible). At right is Escalon RB Dylan Ball, whose team will be one of several top small schools in CIF Sac-Joaquin Section D5 playoffs. Here’s one last look at these rankings before we switch next week to CIF regional bowl game projections. There will be final medium & small school state rankings compiled after all CIF state championships are decided. With playoffs starting in Southern California this week and one week left in the regular season for Northern California, we have four new teams ranked in the medium schools list and two for small schools.

Note: This is a post for Gold Club members only at CalHiSports.com. All future medium/small school state football rankings this season, however, will be for our Gold Club members only. (All based on section by section playoff formats, updated computer rankings, plus combination of enrollment and traditional placement into state rankings that we have done for nearly 50 years)

(There also will be final five divisional state rankings done after the season so that we continue to have an archive of them going back to the early 1980s)
