Although there were no highly-ranked teams from the CIF Central Section or San Diego in this year’s Boras Classic, the tourney does have a strong enough field in its North and South brackets so that its “de facto” state title claim is legit. Sweep weeks help Buchanan of Clovis go back to No. 2, St. John Bosco go up from No. 11 to No. 5 and helps get both El Toro and Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks back into the State Top 20. Huntington Beach strengthens its No. 1 ranking, meanwhile, by winning the Boras Classic state title. This week’s other newcomer is No. 14 Etiwanda.
