Sac-Joaquin Top 5: Best DBs

Last week on the latest FOX 40 Final Quarter high school football show of the 2016 season, hosts Jim Crandell and Kristina Werner revealed a list of the top five defensive backs from CIF Sac-Joaquin Section schools, according to

Here is what that countdown revealed:

1. Trajon Cotton (Inderkum) Sr.
He’s getting offers from Oregon, Cal, UCLA and others and is one of the state’s top safety prospects.

2. Mason Hurst (Del Oro) Sr.
He had nine interceptions last season and is having another great season for the Golden Eagles.

3. Lawrence Hardy (Grant) Sr.
He’s already got four interceptions and two TDs he’s scored on defense. Oh, he also already has seven TD catches as a receiver.

4. Demario McLean (Elk Grove) Sr.
One of the area’s most improved players from last season, D1 college offers are coming in for him.

5. Jamarri Jackson (Christian Brothers) Sr.
He’s been good since he was a sophomore when he has seven interceptions.

Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from, which will be the top five all-time schools from the Sac-Joaquin Section that have produced the most NFL players. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region, including the Fan Favorite game of the week.
