(Click Arrows to See More Photos on home page) For the first time, top-ranked baseball teams in the CIF Southern Section can lose a in an early-round playoff game and not have the season end. Those are the teams, including four of the first five in our state rankings, that will be in the new pool play format for Division I. All teams in that bracket play twice this week then once next week. The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs are already two rounds in as well with one big upset in the books. Teams on the move in this week’s rankings include St. Mary’s of Stockton in the SJS along with St. Francis of Mountain View and Temecula Valley. This week’s lone newcomer inside the first 25 is Oaks Christian.
