We begin this edition of this week’s honor roll with big news from Long Beach on Thursday as the state’s longest league win streak in girls basketball came to a close. Not only that, but Long Beach Poly’s loss to Lakewood snapped a streak that was only eight wins away from breaking the state record. Ventura’s girls also made some history this week by winning the 1,000th game in school history. Individually, the top girls include Casey Higgins from La Salle of Pasadena and McKinley Hanlon from Cathedral Catholic of San Diego. For boys, Isaiah “Slim” Rogers of Corona Centennial knocks down 51 points in one game. More big totals came in from freshman Quali Giron of Long Beach Millikan plus Ryleigh Schoonover of Clovis West.
