Since we’ve always gone by head-to-head results, it’s easy to now put Santa Margarita with the No. 1 state ranking for the first time in school history. After their win over previous No. 1 Sierra Canyon, they have wins over the other three teams also still going in the CIF Southern Section D1 playoffs. De La Salle also rises up to the top five for the first time this season, Carlsbad jumps from No. 19 to No. 13 after avenging its only loss, and Serra of San Mateo is back in the first group prior to its rematch with No. 11 Riordan in the CCS Open Division final.
