Sac-Joaquin Top 5: RBs

We are happy to say that for the sixth straight year the CalHiSports.com web site and Cal-Hi Sports is going to be part of the weekly Final Quarter high school football show on Friday nights on the FOX 40 station in Sacramento.

On last week’s second show for the 2018 season, we revealed our list for the Top 5 running backs in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section based on last year plus recruiting plus additional research. Here is what that countdown revealed:

1. Daniyel Ngata (Folsom)
He’s only a junior but is one of the top junior running backs in the state with offers already from Alabama, Michigan, Nebraska, many more. He was arguably the Bulldogs’ most impressive player in their recent game against De La Salle.

2. D’Marcus Ross (Capital Christian)
He also has college offers for defense, but he’s a four-year running back at Capital Christian and he had 361 yards rushing in his first game.

3. Dawaiian McNeely (Central Catholic)
He has D1 offers for defense, but rushed for 145 yards in his first game and should be the Raiders’ featured back on offense this season.

4. Marshall Chapman (Placer)
He rushed for nearly 1,500 yards last season and helped Placer reach the CIF Division 4-AA state final.

5. Issac Sharp (Hilmar)
In addition to rushing for 1,300 yards for the section D6 champions last year, Issac also returned three kickoffs for scores.

The 30-minute show is twice a long as any other Friday night high school football show in the Sacramento market and is returning to Friday at 11 p.m. time slot.

Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be a look at the top five receivers in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region, including the Fan Favorite game of the week (Foothill vs. McClatchy). Thanks to host Jim Crandell and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.
