Sac-Joaquin Section Top 5: OLs

We are happy to announce that for the fifth straight year the CalHiSports.com web site and Cal-Hi Sports will be part of the weekly Final Quarter high school football show on Friday nights on the FOX 40 station in Sacramento.

On last week’s show, we revealed our picks for the Top 5 offensive linemen in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. Here is what that countdown revealed:

5. Brandon Williamson (Central Catholic)
He’s 6-2, 260 in his fourth year on varsity and should be all-league for third time.

4. Nico Sarale (Oakdale)
He’s 6-4, 260 and has D1 offers, including one from Fresno State.

3. Bryan Catchings (Oak Ridge)
He’s 6-3, 275 and is a three-year standout for Trojans with a commitment to UNLV.

2. Max Barth (St. Mary’s, Stockton)
He’s 6-6, 280, the top lineman in Stockton and committed to Oregon.

1. Will Craig (Granite Bay)
He’s 6-5, 280 committed to Cal and was preseason all-state first team. ALso was MVP of offensive lineman at The Opening Northern California (Nike camp).

Polls also will once again be conducted on the FOX 40 website for the Papa Murphy’s Fan Favorite Game of the Week. The 30-minute show is twice a long as any other Friday night high school football show in the Sacramento market.

Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be the top five defensive linemen in the SJS. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region, including the Fan Favorite game of the week. Thanks to host Jim Crandell and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.

I just watched the Fox 40 4th Quarter and wanted to comment on the top5 Defensive Backs in the
San Juaqin Section . Well do you people look at the stats ???
Tanner Ward Safety Folsom High School has 53 tackles 4 fumble recoveries 1 of them for a touchdown and 1 interception in the first seven games . It really would be nice if someone could explain how Tanner is not one of the top 5 DB. Please check the stats of the other players and you will see.
Please contact me and let me know what you came up with.
    Thank you Mike Ward

For those lists, no they aren’t based on stats, especially tackles.
They are primarily based on those getting college offers.
And for DBs, we look at interceptions first and not tackles.
Also it’s a good place to put guys who are doing more than just defense like the Oak Ridge kicker/WR.
