The fairness issue in competitive equity-based divisions is something that nobody seems to talk about….We also go over updated state record lists for career passing, total offense, and schools trying to finish 16-0…Plus, we list the best player ever from each school still alive to win CIF state championships.

It’s hard to argue against the scores of the games when competitive equity-based divisions are being used in section and state football playoffs.

In this year’s CIF Southern Section playoffs, in which all 13 divisions were determined using competitive equity formulas, the early-round routs were cut way down and schools that previously never had much of a chance to go far went to the semifinals and finals.

The CIF state office also has stated its intention to push for every section to do the same and has determined which division each team is playing in for this week’s CIF football games using competitive equity as a guide.
