All-State Football Nominees (CIFSS)

Two of the best from the CIFSS were QB Devon Modster of Tesoro and RB Sultaan Sullivan of Serrano. Modster passed for 305 yards per game. Sullivan rushed for 3,209 yards in 14 games. Photos: Josh Barber/OCSidelines.com & Twitter.com.

This is the third group of players who have been placed on our board to be considered for the 37th annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football Teams. These are all players from the CIF Southern Section. We welcome additional nominees from parents, coaches and fans.

Note: Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football content that will be for Gold Club members include second, final list of nominees plus second team, third team overall and All-State Underclass. The free posts will be first team overall and first team small schools and medium schools. If you want to check out all of our rankings content, all of our all-state content and state record updates, you can now check it out for just $9.99 to cover a three-month subscription. For info, CLICK HERE.

This post represents another step toward selection of the annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football Teams and it is for us to present lists of nominees that have been put up on our virtual board.

After posting the first list all-state nominees from the CIF sections in Northern California, the second post covered the CIF Central Section plus San Diego and L.A. City. This final list covers the massive CIF Southern Section.

By no means are these meant to be all-inclusive lists of every possible all-state player in California and we will miss listing some top juniors and sophomores on purpose because this isn’t a recruiting list. We encourage and welcome input from all users of our site and will be releasing a second, even more complete, updated list of nominees prior to when the teams are actually chosen and released.

Please send any nomination with each athlete’s height, weight, position, year in school, significant statistics. Comparing a player not on the board yet to one who already is can be very important toward eventual selection. Limit each nomination to one page please. Send to: markjtennis@gmail.com or FAX (209) 463-1219 or call (209) 463-9050.

The format we will continue to use is to honor a 30-player overall all-state first team with 30 more on second team. Each first team player is written up. There also are 30 for medium schools (Div. III traditional state rankings division) and 30 for small schools (Div. IV and Div. V traditional state rankings divisions). We often get enough information to include second teams for all divisions as well.

Don’t assume we know all there is to know about a player on the list, either. Send us info to make sure all pertinent information is turned in and placed into our files.

With appreciation to Stockton office assistant Paul Muyskens, here is a list of those currently on our board from the CIF Southern Section:

La mirada high school players are over rated and in a terrible divison. They play three top schools and got murdered. Cerritos, norwalk, John glen, bellflower, artesia.. Come on those are so horrible..None of there players should be considered for a nomination..

Wait…There RB Sei J had around 50 total yards and a TD against Bosco(was ranked #1 in the country for sometime) Over 110 yards against MD and then over 150 yards against San Clemente. So those stats look pretty dam good to me Against those top schools. Almost every team got murdered against Bosco. And so that is why Gabe, you’re not voting for these kids because your kid or family member didn’t make the list and the LM kids did. **Whispers** he was probably overrated… And yea, so like Stooh said…. Eat a fat one!

Really Gabe?!?!?!? What about all the Playoff Teams that LM Played, killed them!!!! These are supposed to be the best teams in the Southeast SS and State!!! What??? did LM get Lucky for 6 playoff games??? Point differential in the playoffs was something like 237 to 63!!! LM is a Good Team are they in the same league as Corona Centennial and De La Salle, of course not. But that does not mean they are terrible, that means SJB should have very few kids on the list too and I guess by your logic none of those kids that lost to LM should be on this list or the teams that did not even make it to the finals because they lost too?!?!?! There is probably 20-25 of those kids on this List!!!! You are a Joke!!! All these kids deserve to be on this list!!!! They worked their tails off and accomplished what few are able to do…. Think about what you are saying before you write it down!!!

Hold your horses Hate Haters. La Mirada is not in the same universe as Corona Centennial or De La Salle. Much props love and respect for winning your CIF division and State division but your squad would not be able to handle the Huskies of Corona Centennial or De La Salle. Centennial beat Bosco 2 years in a row and LM got worked by Bosco. Lets keep things in perspective here. On the flip side your boys from LM who are on this list deserve to be here as do all of the boys mentioned on this list.
