Football Team To Watch
Chavez (Stockton)

It took a play made in the final seconds for the Titans to have lost last week to McNair 52-48, which was their first loss in San Joaquin Athletic Association competition. Sure, the SJAA is not close to the Tri-County Athletic League with St. Mary’s, Lincoln, etc., but Chavez was the SJAA champion last year and played like a defending champion against the Eagles. If the Titans do so once again this week in their showdown with first-place Stagg, it could go down to the wire once again. After all, the Stagg-McNair matchup from two weeks ago wasn’t decided until the closing seconds as well. A Chavez win would create a three-way tie for the SJAA title, but it also would be a sixth win for the Titans and puts them into the section playoffs. Stagg is attempting to earn a section playoff berth for the seventh straight year and would not get to six wins if it loses to the Titans.
