The selections for the 2016 Cal-Hi Sports all-state girls basketball teams conclude with a look at the 10 players named as first team all-state overall. Four of the 10 are from the CIF San Diego Section, cementing a thought we had all season about the quality of top players from that section this season. Thanks […]
Gelo Ball is the Ball brother with the most prolific stats from last week with 40 and 35 points for No. 1 Chino Hills. Colin Slater of Reedley Immanuel, though, did better with 48-point outburst. For girls, Amber Melgoza getting 31 for Santa Barbara against Mater Dei stands out. This week’s honor roll also includes […]
Ever heard of a quintruble-double? Sophomore girls guard Anyssia Gibbs from Granite Hills of Apple Valley came one assist short of getting one in a game last week. Other girls with best of the best totals include one with 30 rebounds and another who scored 35 while moving to almost 10 assists per game for […]
In between the continued acclaim for those like Lonzo Ball of Chino Hills and Sierra Campisano from Torrey Pines of San Diego, this week’s salute of the state’s top outings in boys and girls hoops is infused with some young ones, including Camarillo freshman Jamie Jaquez Jr., Hacienda Heights Los Altos freshman Jared Lucas, San […]
For the first time this season, boys and girls basketball players get mixed in with the group of those on our honor roll for football. It’s a hot start for a couple of San Diego girls. In football, QBs Brandt Hughes from Pleasant Valley of Chico and Jack Newman from Analy of Sebastopol put up […]
We already have reports of boys players this week with 56, 53 and 52-point outbursts. Some of those will have to wait until next week as more details come in but two other 50-point games from last week are included. San Diego Section standouts Destiny Littleton, Katrina Lusky and Sierra Campisano, meanwhile, lead the girls.
Two boys players get into a shootout and both hit the 50-point mark while one of our girls honorees gets listed with a 42-point, 14-steal, 12-assist triple-double. That girl, though, San Bernardino Arroyo Valley’s Tamera Trigg, is on a team now in the hot seat for winning 161-2 earlier this week.
Presented by ATHLETETRAX, we are switching more to boys and girls basketball this week and eventually will be posting separate boys and girls honor rolls. This week’s best include our first reported 50-point games of the season plus more huge football outings from Jake Browning, Darreon Lockett and Elijah Preston.
As a continuation of the Cal-Hi Sports Girls of Summer basketball caravan, here are writeups of the top 15 girls we saw at the Ballin’ in the Ballroom event that ended last week in Las Vegas. Four of the 15 are from one school. Bradshaw Christian & Vista Murrieta also score well.
The first segment of the 2013-14 all-state teams for girls basketball (which marks the 34th year we’ve been doing them) highlights the best among juniors, sophomores and freshmen. Leading the way with three players each on the various squads are Mater Dei of Santa Ana, Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland, St. Mary’s of Stockton and Sierra […]
