As is our custom, we expand the final rankings at the end of the season and unlike a computer we explain why each move is made. These also are the rankings that go into our archives that include final rankings in California high school softball for more than 40 years. Big moves had to be made to account for all results, including the regional playoffs (despite opt outs, players missing, etc.). That is why San Diego area teams like Mater Dei Catholic, Bonita Vista and Poway all made big jumps. Salinas also jumped up to No. 20 after winning CIF NorCal D2 title.
