Baseball: State Division Rankings

Players and coaches from Tesoro of Las Flores celebrate after winning CIF Southern Section title. If they do the same this Saturday with a CIF SoCal regional title, they also will finish No. 1 in the state in their state rankings division. Photo: Fernando M. Donado / For OC Sports Zone.

In keeping with our longstanding tradition of providing divisional state rankings in baseball, here’s a look at what they look like after Tuesday’s first round of the CIF regional playoffs (north & south) but before Thursday’s semifinals. Sitting at No. 1 are St. Francis of Mountain View (D1), McClatchy of Sacramento (D2), Tesoro of Las Flores (D3), Colusa (D4) and St. Bernard’s of Eureka (D5). There are some teams that have to be in different divisions than the ones the CIF has them in for criteria we’ve used for many years. There will be final divisional state baseball rankings released later next week.
