Boys BB: Introducing 2024 Class

Three of the very best players in the 2024 class from the Golden State played together this summer on the Paul George Elite 15U travel team: James Evans (5), Isaiah Elohim (2) and Jamari Phillips (24). Photo: Ronnie Flores.

Our boys basketball coverage for Gold Club VIPs continues with a first look at the state’s top incoming 10th-graders. The freshman (2024) class from last spring has terrific talent that has already made a splash on the high school scene. Some in the group are already mature and it’s important to keep that in mind when projecting future success, especially for post players who often develop later.

The first 2024 Cal-Hi Sports Top 25 is based on evaluations from this summer’s NCAA viewing periods, the altered 2020-21 CIF spring season and non-viewing showcases and middle school events over the past two years. We usually introduce the freshman class in the fall before they play a regulation high school game, but unfortunately that isn’t the case with the 2024 class. We’re hoping to introduce the 2025 class (as we normally would) this fall in our post-summer rankings.
