Preseason All-CCS Football Team

A little more than half of the players who wound up being on our preseason All-CCS football team were seen in person at El Cerrito High last May in the Nike-sponsored football event called The Opening Regionals. Two of those were Salinas QB Carl Richardson (left) and Valley Christian RB Isaiah McElvane. Photos: Mark Tennis.

Valley Christian of San Jose, which is loaded with top returnees from last year’s CIF D1-A NorCal regional bowl runner-up, is clearly the team to beat and leads the way with five members of this year’s preseason All-CCS squad. Others landing more than one player on this team include Serra of San Mateo, St. Francis of Mountain View, Los Gatos and Palo Alto.

Note: These preseason all-section teams will be done in the same 30-player format as the annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football Teams. They are based on a combination of what the players did last season and college recruiting. Not every all-section team will have writeups of every player. Some will have an intro, then lists.

RELATED PRESEASON TEAMS: CIF North Coast Section (Redwood Empire) | CIF Southern Section (Inland Empire) | CIF L.A. City Section | CIF Central Section | CIF San Diego Section | CIF Southern Section (Orange County) | CIF Sac-Joaquin Section
