Sac-Joaquin Top 5: Linebackers

We are happy to say that for the sixth straight year the CalHiSports.com web site and Cal-Hi Sports is going to be part of the weekly Final Quarter high school football show on Friday nights on the FOX 40 station in Sacramento.

On last week’s seventh show for the 2018 season, we revealed our list for the Top 5 linebackers for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. Here is what that countdown revealed:

1. Isaiah Ward (Inderkum)
He played some at quarterback last year, but is concentrating at linebacker this season. Entering game vs Woodcreek, he already had more than 10 tackles for loss and offer from Sac State.

2. Chase Laguana Scott (Placer)
Third year starter is having another solid season after leading the Hillmen with 140 tackles last year, including season high of 16 in one game.

3. Tatuo Martinson (Del Oro)
Entering big game this week vs. Oak Ridge, he’s already blocked three field goal attempts this season and has more than 30 tackles.

4. Carter Sullivan (Antelope)
The Titans’ leading defender is getting some college interest and had 10 tackles for loss through first five games.

5. Marcus Jones Jr. (Monterey Trail)
He’s not as big as some of the others on this list and only a junior, but Marcus has been one of the top players for unbeaten Mustangs.

This 30-minute show is twice as long as any other Friday night high school football show in the Sacramento market and is returning to the Friday at 11 p.m. time slot.

Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be a look at the top five defensive backs in the SJS. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region, including the Fan Favorite Game of the Week, River Valley of Yuba City at Inderkum. Thanks to host Jim Crandell and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.
