Sac-Joaquin Top 5: Defensive Line

We are happy to say that for the sixth straight year the CalHiSports.com web site and Cal-Hi Sports is going to be part of the weekly Final Quarter high school football show on Friday nights on the FOX 40 station in Sacramento.

On last week’s sixth show for the 2018 season, we revealed our list for the Top 5 defensive linemen for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. Here is what that countdown revealed:

1. Liatu Latu (Jesuit, Carmichael)
He’s 6-5, 240 and has nearly 30 tackles for loss for the Marauders in his career. He also can play tight end and has offers from USC, Oregon, Cal, UCLA, Washington and more.

2. Xavier Carlton (Modesto Christian)
Just a junior but he was an all-state sophomore last year and at 6-6, 245 already has tons of college offers, including Notre Dame, Oregon, USC.

3. Tyler Hardeman (Folsom)
Very productive player at 6-2, 260 with Ivy League academics who had 100 tackles and five sacks last season and off to a strong start this year.

4. DeShawn Lynch (Folsom)
He’s a 6-4, 265-pound junior who also plays basketball and has several D1 college offers.

5. Ian Deal (El Dorado, Placerville)
He’s not big at 6-2, 200 but he had 26 tackles for loss last season, including 12.5 sacks and he recovered six fumbles.

This 30-minute show is twice as long as any other Friday night high school football show in the Sacramento market and is returning to the Friday at 11 p.m. time slot.

Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be a look at the top five linebackers in the SJS. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region, including the Fan Favorite Game of the Week. Thanks to host Jim Crandell and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.
