Sac-Joaquin Top 5: Offensive Line

We are happy to say that for the sixth straight year the CalHiSports.com web site and Cal-Hi Sports is going to be part of the weekly Final Quarter high school football show on Friday nights on the FOX 40 station in Sacramento.

On last week’s fifth show for the 2018 season, we revealed our list for the Top 5 offensive linemen for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. Here is what that countdown revealed:

1. Joey Capra (Placer, Auburn)
He’s 6-4, 275, committed to Oregon and is the third Capra brother to earn a D1 scholarship. Oldest brother Johnny is at Utah, while middle brother Jacob is also at Oregon.

2. Everett Johnson (Turlock)
He’s 6-7, 290 and is one of the top junior offensive linemen in the state. Already committed to Cal.

3. Zac Welch (Oak Ridge, El Dorado Hills)
He’s 6-4, 295 and has committed to the Nevada Wolf Pack. Yes, we did goof a bit by not having him first team for the preseason section team.

4. Nathan Peterson (Dixon)
He’s 6-5, 285, a scholar athlete and headed to the Air Force Academy. Definite small school all-state candidate.

5. Kaden Richardson (Folsom)
He’s 6-2, 255 and starts every play in that Folsom offense as the center. Kaden also is the son of head coach Kris Richardson. Brother Kooper is at UC Davis.

This 30-minute show is twice as long as any other Friday night high school football show in the Sacramento market and is returning to the Friday at 11 p.m. time slot.

Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be a look at the top five defensive linemen in the SJS. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region, including the Fan Favorite Game of the Week. Thanks to host Jim Crandell and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.
