Sac-Joaquin Top 5: Single Season TDs

We are happy to say that for the fifth straight year the CalHiSports.com web site and Cal-Hi Sports have been part of the weekly Final Quarter high school football show on Friday nights on the FOX 40 station in Sacramento.

On last week’s show, we revealed our list for the Top 5 individuals in CIF Sac-Joaquin Section history for scoring the most touchdowns in a single season. Here is what that countdown revealed:

1. Andrew Brown (Ripon Christian) 55
He set the current record in 13 games in 2013 season. He also has one of the highest point totals for a single season since Andrew kicked PATs & field goals as well.

2. Onterrio Smith (Grant) 53
This was in 1998 season and he also set a regular season state scoring record at the time (since broken).

3. Ryan Robards (Elk Grove) 50
He had one of the greatest all-around seasons in local history in 2015 season.

4. Alex Laurel (Manteca) 49
Led the Buffaloes to NorCal Division 2 bowl game in 2013. Getting to play 15 games always helps the total.

5. (tie) Deontae Booker (Grant) 45
You all know him as current RB with Denver Broncos. He scored 45 for Pacers in 2009 season.

5. (tie) Mark Paule Jr. (Sierra, Manteca) 45
This was his junior year in 2014 season and had 45 TDs in just 12 games.

The 30-minute show usually is twice as long as any other Friday night high school football show in the Sacramento market but this week will be condensed to fit into the regular 10 p.m. newscast.

Watch this week’s show Friday at 10:45 p.m. for all the local highlights. There are no more Top 5 lists from CalHiSports.com with the season concluding. Thanks to host Jim Crandell and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.
