Once again, since the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section is the one for our home base in Stockton, we’ll put together a weekly Top 20 in football for that section this season. Watch the FOX40 Final Quarter on Fridays at 11 p.m. for all the highlights and to see our latest SJS Top 5 List.

Big Games This Week (involving both Top 20 teams from the section): Folsom at Oak Ridge; Oakdale at Central Catholic; Rocklin at Granite Bay.

Note of the Week: In the highest reported scoring game involving two teams so far this season in the state, Chavez of Stockton outlasted Bear Creek of Stockton last Friday 74-64. It also tied a section record in that category, matching the 138 points from 2009 when Buhach Colony of Atwater beat Golden Valley of Merced 90-48. It’s not as much as last year’s state high of 144 for Compton over Lakewood (80-64) while the state record of 164 from 2011 when Tulare beat Porterville 85-79 remains intact. Note that none of those state list totals were from overtime games. Chavez earlier this season 72-48 to McNair and 70-48 to Edison and now has 74 in a win. The Titans play San Joaquin Athletic Association champion Stagg this week. How many will the Delta Kings get?
