CIF Central Sec: A perfect Wolfe

Here’s some record updates and highlights of top players & teams from the recent week as reported to us from CIF Central Section historian Bob Barnett of Fresno. Bob has done phenomenal work on behalf of CIF Central Section schools, athletes and coaches for more than 40 years.

FOOTBALL
Quarterback Blake Wolfe of Sanger was perfect for the game by going for 13 of 13 for 206 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-7 win by the defending D2 section champs over Clovis East. Wolfe tied for the third best for completions without a miss in section history. Wolfe’s favorite target was talented Jalen Cropper with seven receptions for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Jasper Berumen of Granite Hills (Porterville) rushed for a career high of 225 yards on 24 carries and scored two touchdowns in a 14-7 over Orosi.

Jacob Torrez from top-ranked section team Central of Fresno had a career high with nine receptions for 92 yards and one touchdown from junior quarterback Trent Tompkins in a 30-3 victory against visiting Liberty of Bakersfield. Tompkins also passed for 216 yards for the game.

Senior kicker Eli Riofrio from Clovis West of Fresno had a career night by making three field goals and three PATs for 12 kicking points in a 30-9 win over Edison (Fresno). One field goal measured 49 yards, the third best in school history. Eli also now has 18 field goals for his career.

Quarterback Braden Wingle of Bakersfield Christian is starting to warm for the season. He passed for 252 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-6 win over Mission Oak of Tulare.

Senior Kazmeir Allen of Tulare had a sold game against Redwood of Visalia by rushing for a season high of 210 yards on 19 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 42-6 win by the Tribe over the Rangers.
