Two of our stat stars this week also are currently being considered for all-state basketball teams: Chase Watkins of Watsonville St. Francis and Brooke Panfili of Lafayette Acalanes. This week’s baseball honor roll also includes pitchers with ERAs of 0.25, 0.25 and 0.19, including one sophomore from Vista Murrieta who beat state’s No. 2-ranked team. In softball, we also have four-year regular Chloe Romero ringing up her second perfect game and seventh no-hitter.

Note: We will collect totals from MaxPreps, newspapers, tweets and from those sent in to us. We also will compile single-game highs from this post throughout the season and of course we use our weekly State Stat Stars collection as an aid for the Cal-Hi Sports State Record Book. That is the only state record book anyone has ever done and we have published it seven times with full copyright protection. To report totals to us for this feature and for the record book, email markjtennis@gmail.com or call 209-608-1317. You can also text to 209-608-1317.

Chase Watkins (St. Francis, Watsonville)
You may remember Chase as one of the top players for a St. Francis boys basketball team that went to the CIF Division V state final and lost by one point to Rolling Hills Prep. An athlete we are currently considering for at least one of our all-state girls basketball teams, Panfili is showing off her athleticism in two sports this spring. While we don’t normally include track performances in this honor roll, Panfili finished third in the 100 in a track meet against Ygnacio Valley but it was her softball performance that gets her listed here. In the circle, she pitched a no-hitter against Miramonte of Orinda and a one-hitter against Ygnacio Valley with 18 strikeouts in the two games combined. At the plate, Brooke also went 5-for-8 with five runs scored.
