Go ahead, call us homers. But it just worked out doing these rankings the same way we’ve done them for 30-plus years that three teams from San Joaquin County (our home base) have landed in the State Top 20 for softball. It doesn’t look like that’s happened before. At the top of the heap, meanwhile, it may be Norco, Los Alamitos and Orange Lutheran in the top three for many weeks. No. 4 Gahr and No. 5 Rio Mesa are still unbeaten, but unless one of the first three completely collapses neither of those two teams will have the strength of schedule to move up.
