Top 10 Baseball, Softball Ranks

Here’s a quick look at the top 10 teams that will be highlighted in this week’s new Cal-Hi Sports State Top 20 rankings for baseball and softball.

BASEBALL TEAMS

1. (2) Buchanan (Clovis) 16-0
Plays No. 4 Clovis on Tuesday.

2. (7) Davis 11-0
NorCal Boras Classic champs added two more wins last week.

3. (8) Redondo Union (Redondo Beach) 13-0
Have to be in front of SoCal Boras Classic champs.

4. (3) Clovis 17-1
First loss last week to Clovis North, but gets to play Buchanan next.

5. (NR) Mira Costa (Manhattan Beach) 11-1
Only loss in first game and now has win over JSerra.

6. (1) JSerra (San Juan Capistrano) 10-2
Reached SoCal Boras Classic final with win over El Camino Real.

7. (10) Bellarmine (San Jose) 11-2
Won three times last week and still owns win over Serra.

8. (5) Lutheran (Orange) 11-2
Went 3-1 at SoCal Boras Classic and can be ahead of team lost to due to superior overall season resume.

9. (12) Serra (San Mateo) 11-2-1
NorCal Boras Classic runner-up beat San Ramon Valley, Redwood (Larkspur) and College Park in impressive week.

10. (4) De La Salle (Concord) 8-2
One of the losses at Hard 9 National Classic was to eventual champion Mountain Ridge of Arizona.

TOP 10 STATE
SOFTBALL TEAMS

1. (2) Los Alamitos 12-1
TOC champs from Arizona also have win over only team they’ve lost to.

2. (3) Mission Viejo 10-2
Like Los Al, Diablos didn’t play last week.

3. (5) Norco 10-2
Preseason No. 2 knocked off last week’s No. 1, Etiwanda, 6-5.

4. (1) Etiwanda 19-1
After loss to Norco, Eagles beat Serrano twice.

5. (6) West Ranch (Valencia) 10-0
Wildcats will be tested in Foothill League.

6. (13) Archbishop Mitty (San Jose) 8-0
Easy to move up Monarchs to position previously occupied by preseason No. 1 Pioneer (San Jose) when that team lost its second game of the season last week.

7. (20) La Habra 16-1
Highlanders beat previous No. 4 Mater Dei in Alan Dugard Classic. Score wasn’t reported on MaxPreps until late Monday afternoon.

8. (4) Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 15-3
Monarchs posted a win last week vs. Trinity League rival Orange Lutheran but later lost to La Habra.

9. (9) Pacifica (Garden Grove) 8-3
Mariners beat Torrance and Kennedy (La Palma) in games last week.

10. (8) Amador Valley (Pleasanton) 6-1
With win over Bishop O’Dowd, Dons can now be ranked in front of only team they’ve lost to (Pioneer of San Jose).
