FB Recruiting: Where 1st Team All-Staters Are Headed

It was supposedly a bad day for USC’s national football recruiting since the Trojans lost out on some major prospects in the closing days of the 2015-16 cycle, but they still comfortably led the state with five first-time all-state players who are in their 2016 signing class.

At the end of signing day on Wednesday, Feb. 3, here is where each of this year’s Cal-Hi Sports first-team all-state players are headed for the next level:

OFFENSE
WR Derrion Grim (McNair, Stockton) 6-2, 190, Sr. to Nebraska (already attending classes).
WR Michael Pittman (Oaks Christian, Westlake Village) 6-4, 210, Sr. to USC.
OL Wyatt Davis (St. John Bosco, Bellflower) 6-5, 315, Jr. has offers from Alabama, USC, Oklahoma, many more.
OL Frank Martin (Mater Dei, Santa Ana) 6-5, 270, Sr. to USC.
OL Nathan Smith (Murrieta Mesa, Murrieta) 6-6, 260, Sr. to USC (already attending classes).
OL Luke Wattenberg (JSerra, SJ Capistrano) 6-5, 270, Sr. to Washington.
OL Jonah Williams (Folsom) 6-5, 290, Sr. to Alabama (already attending classes).
QB Ian Book (Oak Ridge, El Dorado Hills) 6-1, 195, Sr. to Notre Dame (had earlier committed to Washington State).
RB Najee Harris (Antioch) 6-3, 225, Jr. has committed to Alabama but we’ll see if that sticks.
RB Sean McGrew (St. John Bosco, Bellflower) 5-7, 170, Sr. to Washington.
RB J.J. Taylor (Centennial, Corona) 5-7, 175, Sr. to Arizona.
PK Manny Berz (Citrus Hill, Perris) 5-10, 180, Jr. still has senior year to go.

DL Hunter Kampmoyer (Bishop) 6-6, 240, Sr. to Oregon.
DL Boss Tagaloa (De La Salle, Concord) 6-3, 295, Sr. to UCLA (announced at press conference on Wednesday at the school over Michigan, USC, Washington).
LB Zach Brumbaugh (Centennial, Corona) 5-10, 215, Sr. to Air Force.
LB Mique Juarez (North, Torrance) 6-3, 220, Sr. to UCLA (earlier had committed to USC and chose Bruins on Wednesday over Alabama, Ole Miss & BYU).
LB Caleb Kelly (Clovis West, Fresno) 6-2, 220, Sr. to Oklahoma (announced at press conference on Wednesday).
LB Colin Schooler (Mission Viejo) 6-1, 220, Jr. still with senior year to go.
DB Troy Dye (Norco) 6-3, 210, Sr. to Oregon.
DB David Long (Loyola, Los Angeles) 6-0, 175, Sr. to Michigan (one of last all-state players to choose just last week).
DB Darnay Holmes (Calabasas) 6-1, 190, Jr. has offers from all major national college teams.
DB Trey Udoffia (Del Oro, Loomis) 6-1, 190, Sr. to Colorado.
P Andrew Nielsen (Hart, Newhall) 6-2, 190, Sr. is undecided.

TE/DE Devin Asiasi (De La Salle, Concord) 6-4, 265, Sr. to Michigan (announced Wednesday during press conference at the school over UCLA, USC, Alabama, Washington).
