Sac-Joaquin Section Top 5 RBs

Last week on the FOX 40 Final Quarter high school football show, hosts Jim Crandell and Kristina Werner revealed a list of the top five runningbacks this season in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section, according to CalHiSports.com.

Here is what that countdown revealed:

1. Beau Bisharat (Jesuit, Carmichael) 6-2, 200, Sr.
He’s been one of the top recruits in recent years from Jesuit and has committed to Stanford.

2. Deshawn Collins (Grant, Sacramento) 5-9, 175, Sr.
Grant actually could have had two on this list (other is Mike Green), but we went with just the one. Collins rushed for 2,321 yards as a junior.

3. Justin Rice (Central Catholic, Modesto) 6-2, 190, Sr.
He was a big threat last year for D4 state champs and rushed for 2,146 yards with 30 TDs.

4. Mark Paule Jr. (Sierra, Manteca) 5-7, 165, Sr.
As a junior last season, Mark ranked among the state leaders by scoring 43 touchdowns.

5. Evyn Holtz (Rocklin) 5-7, 180, Sr.
The fifth spot was tough, but going with three-year starter who is on one of the section’s best teams.

Tune into this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be a list of the top five receivers/tight ends in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region. Thanks to Jim and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.

I know it’s easy to overlook defenders but one of the best LB’S in the state is Matt Torres from Folsom. This kid is just now coming onto the radar as he is starting to get some much deserved attention. Without the game 3 stats posted he is still in top 10 in state in tackles. He is averaging 17 tkls a game and as you noted in your week one Stat stars his first game was an all state type effort. When you do the LB’s list for SJS you can’t leave him off and with his pace he will have 170 stops by game 10 and Folsom should run deep into the playoffs. Just a heads up! Keep up the good work, you guys are the best…..
