What kinda sucks is that all the Div 1 South teams are all grouped in the Pac 5 and will cancel themselves out. However Centennial and The open SD winner are grateful for the Div 1 regional bid because of it.

My predication for SD Open game will be Helix vs Oceanside…And then Oceanside vs Centennial for Regional game.

Bold and Accurate! The Highlanders will defeat the Grizzlies and if Eastlake thinks they have speed than wait til Friday and they see real speed!

Eastlake calling out Oceanside. Eastlake has not faced a great defense like Oceanside. They in trouble.

I thought Parker/Christian were a shoo-in for the D IV regional. But they’ve got some tough games this week. SD division 3 has some really big schools in it. Christian is playing a big Morse team that destroyed Bishops and Parker has to face a strong Granite Hills team. Even if Parker wins they’ll most likely face San Marcos in the semis. Christian should win this week but I think Parker will be upset. It’s a very tough road to the regional for all the small southern cali teams.

You are completely correct, Redbird, except for View Park in L.A. City D3. Don’t see them losing, but they aren’t the level of teams you are thinking about.

I think you are dead on when suspecting the upset between San Marcos and Santa Fe Christian. Granite will have a tough one at Parker but wouldn’t be shocked to see the upset here. Don’t see Christian losing to Morse, but winning what could be a tough game and then facing Hoover in the quarters.

Oops I mean Hoover in the semis.

The SDS should have a similar 16 team playoff format. One system for the top 16 teams in the county regardless of enrollment and the second for the leftovers. Get rid of the six divisions.

    Mark,

Why is it that the Northcoast playoff does not include the Open division teams (Serra, Bellermine etc.)? The NCS has been horrible for over 2 decades and DeLaSalle has won it 22 straight times I believe. Why won’t the northern section merge with another section to form a decent playoff division. DLS gets easy games where they can rest players and then claim they are so great after beating teams that had difficult, real opponents for 3-4 straight weeks. Even northern teams like Folsom have much tougher roads in the playoffs.

Because no matter what, DLS will reign supreme and end up blowing teams out… Only reason Serra did well against DLS was because it was early; now, it’d be a blowout. For example, last season, Folsom vs DLS, blow out, Open Championship, DLS blowout… Give credit where it’s due.DLS doesn’t get easy teams either btw… Just cause they don’t schedule National Powerhouses week in and week out…

San Leandro had teams in the early 2000s that were not “horrible.” Three San Leandro teams in a row were unbeaten until losing to DLS in the NCS final and one year the margin was only two touchdowns. The QB on those teams was Dennis Dixon (later almost won Heisman at Oregon until broken ankle) and there was at least one other NFL player (Jerrod Page) plus bunch of others that played in college. You are half-correct because for about half the time there really has been no other strong team in the section and that also is true this year. Serra and Bellarmine, by the way, are not in the NCS. They are in a different section, the Central Coast.

Darin is clinging to another of the lame socal, anti-DLS rants. Im still waiting for SJB to have a “tough” game. SJB has won every game by an average MOV of 4 TD’s.

Glad to see Enterprise @ #3 in the north div II. I am an alum and played back in 83. They say this is the best team in school history. I’ve watched them play all year. They have a solid offensive and defensive lines with size. We have excellent speed at the skill positions and good size and speed at linebackers. If we can win our section, would love to see them in a regional play in game against the winner of the north coast section Casa Grande or Clayton Valley. They are #1 and #2 but would cancel one another out in their section playoffs. The impressive part about this Enterprise team is that most of the star players are juniors!
