The No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the final state and national rankings combine for six first team picks to headline this year’s 36th annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Softball Team. This also ended up being a great year for catchers and we went with six of them on first team. This group of 30 […]
FINAL Softball State Top 40
As is our custom, it takes us awhile to get out final state rankings because we do the all-state nominations first. But we try to make up for it by doing expanded lists in all divisions. The first 10 showed up on our ticker last week, but here’s the next 30 all placed in order...
NEW Baseball State Top 20
Higher seeded teams fall by the wayside in droves as this year’s section playoffs reach the later rounds or come to an end. Bad weather and spring break contributed to a lack of games and not much movement in this week’s State Top 20. Look for the first 10 teams to go on our ticker beginning Monday and for more changes next week as make-up games are coming. Unbeaten Santa Margarita getting a bump and Poway getting uplifted...
NEW Softball State Top 20
With Thursday’s Los Alamitos at Norco game postponed by weather, the Griffins (who are still unbeaten) go back to the top spot in the state this week to replace previous No. 1 Cathedral Catholic. Norco moves up to No. 3 with Orange Lutheran (which has split with Norco) at No. 2. Newcomers this week are...
NEW Softball State Top 20
It could have been three different teams that could have been the new No. 1 in this week’s State Top 20, but the pick went to the next highest in line as Cathedral Catholic of San Diego moved up from No. 2. Previous No. 1 Norco lost to new No. 3 Lutheran of Orange in...
Baseball: Preseason State Top 25
Eastlake of Chula Vista, the 2017 State Team of the Year, has more than enough firepower returning to start 2018 in the same position. Another CIF San Diego Section team, Cathedral Catholic, also is in the top five. The top CIF Southern Section preseason team, Orange Lutheran, begins at No. 2. Meanwhile, the two top […]
