To go with overall honoree Dalia Frias, we have others selected tops among girls athletes for juniors, sophomores, freshmen and those from divisions (D1, D3, D4 and D5) for the 2021-22 school year. One of those was nearly chosen as the overall winner, while another was recently named as our 2022 Ms. Softball State Player […]
It’s a CIF Central Coast Section sweep for our two NorCal headline players in boys and girls basketball. For Southern California, it’s a trip down 101 from the S.F. peninsula to Santa Barbara and then further south to the harbor area of Los Angeles. We hope you enjoy this free story on Cal-Hi Sports.com. For […]
Previously announced No. 1 teams were Mater Dei Catholic of Chula Vista for medium & Menlo School of Atherton for small. D2-A state champion Scripps Ranch of San Diego & D6AA state champion Argonaut of Jackson both jump up in each at the end as well. We jumped an 11-5 team up there for medium...
Not every one of the so-called big four this year in the CIF Southern Section was from a private school. Centennial of Corona is public and therefore became an easy choice to be the 2021 State Public School Team of the Year. We also are congratulating Mater Dei Catholic of Chula Vista as State Medium […]
Just like the boys, there are 144 players who have been named for these annual all-state teams according to five divisions. This is the 41st consecutive year of Cal-Hi Sports all-state teams in girls basketball (just one less year than boys). Schools that won CIF SoCal regional titles in those divisions had an advantage in […]
We don’t have a 128-123 game to go through, but we also have compiled our first divisional state rankings for the girls teams through Thursday’s regional quarterfinals. The big move is Long Beach Poly having to go in front of previous state No. 2 Mater Dei for a big win from Wednesday in the Open […]
The season is well underway for some teams and several of them played on Tuesday night. We have the first rankings of the season that already reflect results and the team that would have been preseason No. 1, Mater Dei of Santa Ana, improved to 3-0 and therefore is still No. 1. The Monarchs should […]
Two receivers with 14 catches in one game – Evan King of Menlo School and Brenden Hall of Folsom Vista del Lago – are among the best of this week’s honor roll. Eric Melesio of Riverside Norte Vista with 55 carries, Manny Berz of Citrus Hill with 42nd career field goal and Kingsburg’s Bo Jackson […]
Presented by ATHLETETRAX, this week’s best include a super sophomore from Antioch and a versatile talent from Los Angeles who averaged 73.6 yards per carry rushing on five rushing attempts to nearly break a state record.
For the first time since we started the Bay Area rankings this season, there were no changes this week. In fact, with the exception of St. Francis losing to Mitty, none of the other top teams faced a ranked opponent in league action and there were no upsets.
