Mater Dei moves to No. 1 prior to matchup with Archbishop Mitty in CIF Open Division championship. Earlier win is a factor in ranking, but means nothing at this point of season. It’s down to four teams left in the chase for the first-ever CIF Open Division state title after Tuesday night’s regional semifinals. The big news was in the south where No. 2 seed Mater Dei was upset by Santa Fe Christian of Solana Beach. The Eagles will now play the Eagles of Santa Margarita for […]
Ventura complicates matters further by beating No. 1 Mitty and winning Santa Barbara TOC. New No. 1 is Santa Margarita, which has now beaten early-season No. 1 Mater Dei three times in a row. With a 45-0 final record, Granite Bay certainly can join the discussion of top teams in state history for girls volleyball. Here is a list of teams with the best dual match records in state history (according to the Cal-Hi Sports State Record Book):
Bay Area goes 2-2 at state championships Of the five Northern California teams playing at the state championships at Santiago Canyon College in Orange last weekend, three took home state titles, including two from the Bay Area — Archbishop Mitty and Valley Christian.
