It takes playing very early in one’s high school varsity career and being very good for a quarterback to either pass for 10,000 yards in a career or pass for 100 career touchdowns. As a celebration to updating all of our state passing records, here’s an all-time list of all of those quarterbacks who have done both.

Kahlil Abdul-Azziz (Orange Vista, Perris)
He was a freshman QB who helped Orange Vista win the 2023 CIF Southern Section D5 championship. Kahlil continued to put up big totals for three more seasons and is currently a freshman at Adams State. He had 10,870 career passing yards and 120 career TD passes.
Hank Bachmeier (Murrieta Valley, Murrieta)
At one point, Hank held the CIF Southern Section record for career passing yards, but it only lasted for a week until Jayden Daniels of Cajon broke it. Bachmeier, older brother of later Murrieta Valley stars Tiger and Bear, had 13,150 career passing yards from 2015 to 2018. His final career TD pass total: 156.
Jake Browning (Folsom)
Current state record holder for career passing yards at 16,775 in three seasons with Folsom from 2012 to 2014 also set the state record that will probably hold up for a long time for career TD passes at 229. Jake started three games last season for the Cincinnati Bengals but was just released by the Tampa Bay Bucs and did not agree to join the team’s practice squad.

Braxton Burmeister (La Jolla Country Day)
One of the most dynamic QBs in recent CIF San Diego Section history, Braxton shined for the Torreys 10 years ago as a senior. He was a four-year starter and finished with 11,512 yards and 127 touchdown passes.
Matt Corral (Long Beach Poly)
He played his first three seasons at Oaks Christian from 2014 to 2016 and finished up with the Jackrabbits in 2017. He played this past UFL season with the Orlando Storm. Corral had 10,330 yards and 104 TD passes in his high school career.
Jimmy Clausen (Oaks Christian, Westlake Village)
There’s a lot of history surrounding the high school career of Clausen, who went on to play at Notre Dame and in the NFL after his years at Oaks Christian from 2003 to 2006. He set the state career TD pass record at the time of his graduation at 145 and he was the first QB to win a CIF state title in nearly 80 years when his Oaks Christian team got past Cardinal Newman of Santa Rosa in overtime in the first CIF state final played since 1927 (two other state finals also were played that day in 2006). Clausen also had 10,677 career passing yards.
Jordan Crisp (Tulare)
Recent grad of a school that has had several prolific passers and receivers in its history connected for 127 TD passes in his career (which began in 2022 season as a freshman) and 11,288 yards. We wish someone would have put in his final stats from his final game (a playoff loss to Arroyo Grande) into MaxPreps, but we had totals sent in as well from longtime CIF Central Section historian Bob Barnett.
Jayden Daniels (Cajon, San Bernardino)
We’re all hoping for a healthier NFL season for Jayden, who took the NFL by storm as a rookie two years ago in leading the Washington Commanders to the NFC title game. Jayden passed for 14,007 yards in his career at Cajon and threw for 170 touchdowns. He won the Heisman Trophy for LSU in December of 2023.
J.T. Daniels (Mater Dei, Santa Ana)
For his three seasons at Mater Dei, J.T. was considered a freshman, sophomore and junior. He reclassed not long after his junior season ended and was in USC spring practices in the spring of 2018. J.T. led the Monarchs to the 2017 CIF Open Division state title. He had 12,014 career yards and 152 career TD passes.
Zevi Eckhaus (Culver City)
We just mentioned Zevi this week while doing players of the week since current Culver City QB Nick Huang had a 546-yard game for the Centaurs. When Zevi was there, from 2017 through the spring 2021 COVID season, he had 137 career TD passes and 10,210 career yards.
Tristan Gebbia (Calabasas)
He played during a period of years for the Coyotes where they were playing a real high level. Gebbia passed for 13,109 yards from 2014 to 2016 and he had 141 career TD passes.
Armando Herrera (Redlands East Valley)
He was a junior QB in 2015 when REV won the CIF D2 state championship under head coach Kurt Bruich. He wrapped his four-year career the following season with 11,397 yards passing and 117 TD passes.
Nathan Lamb (Tulare)
He came along for head coach Darren Bennett’s offense from 2016 to 2018. Lamb had 11,258 career passing yards and 123 career TD passes.
Ryder Lyons (Folsom)
The Bulldogs’ QB from 2023 to 2025 burst onto the scene as a sophomore and may not have started that season had the previous QB, Austin Mack, reclassed. Ryder led Folsom to the 2023 D1-A state title. The Bulldogs won the 2025 crown in D1-AA, but Lyons suffered an injury in the NorCal title game. He still wrapped up his career 10,074 yards and 120 TD passes.
Sam Metcalf (Farmersville)
Small school standout from CIF Central Section had a stellar four-year career from 2011 to 2014, just a couple of years ahead of Firebaugh’s Josh Allen. Sam had 11,913 yards and 140 touchdowns.
Tyus Miller (Clovis East, Clovis)
He barely makes the club with 10,005 career passing yards. His junior season in 2023 was his best with 3,510 yards and 43 TD passes. After Ty completed his final pass for the Timberwolves in the 2024 CIF Central Section playoffs, he also had 111 career TD passes.
Michael Mitchell Jr. (Archbishop Riordan, San Francisco)
Michael set a bunch of records for the West Catholic Athletic League, which is the league in which all-time NFL greats Tom Brady and Dan Fouts both played in when they were in high school. He led last year’s team at Riordan to the CIF Central Coast Section Open Division title and 12-1 record. He’s now at Stanford. For his career, Mitchell had 10,529 yards and 126 TD passes.
Ezekiel Osborne (Shafter)
He was a four-year starter for the Generals who played 16 games as a freshman in 2022 in helping Shafter get to a CIF divisional state final. Despite only playing seven games as a junior due to injury, Osborne finished his career last season with 121 TD passes and 10,058 yards.

Deagan Rose (Clovis)
We happened to have seen Deagan’s first start as a freshman in Clovis’ first game of the 2022 season, which was against Long Beach Poly. He wound up as one of the all-time leaders in the CIF Central Section. Rose’s final career totals: 11,448 yards and 112 touchdown passes.
Brady Smigiel (Newbury Park)
Who knows how high Brady’s final career stats might have been had he not suffered a knee injury midway through last season. Smigiel is now at the University of Michigan. At the time of his injury, Brady had 162 career TD passes (he most surely would have passed Jayden Daniels for second on the all-time list with 170 if he hadn’t gotten hurt). He also had 12,846 career passing yards. He started as a freshman in the 2022 season playing his dad, head coach Joe Smigiel.
Trent Tompkins (Central, Fresno)
Outstanding leader of the Grizzlies from 2016 to 2018 was a local hero in the CIF Central Section. Trent wrapped up his career with 138 TD passes and 11,743 yards.
Alec Trujillo (San Joaquin Memorial, Fresno)
He also played at Exeter High before transferring to SJM. He was a junior QB on the team’s 2018 squad that went to the CIF D2-A state final. In four high school seasons, Trujillo had 116 career TD passes and 11,682 career yards.
D.J. Uiagalelei (St. John Bosco, Bellflower)
Current practice squad QB with the San Diego Chargers was the 2019 Mr. Football State Player of the Year after leading Bosco to the CIFSS D1 and CIF Open Division state titles. D.J. capped his career with 10,496 yards from 2017 to 2019 and he had 127 career TD passes.
Caden Voges (Sacramento)
Current Folsom head coach Paul Doherty was at Sacramento for the first two seasons that Caden was throwing for huge totals during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Voges finished up the next season with 11,510 career yards and 142 touchdown passes.
Brady White (Hart, Newhall)
He had some success in college at Memphis after starting at Arizona State and is now getting into coaching. White is only QB from Hart, which has had a lot of top-level QBs in its history, who reached the 10,000-yard, 100-TD club. He barely reached the 100 TDs with a final total of 101. For yards, in his three seasons from 2012 to 2014, White had 10,835 yards.
Tanner Wilson (Sunnyside, Fresno)
Played 49 games for his four seasons and amassed 13,326 yards for the Wildcats. Wilson also wrapped up his career with 160 touchdown passes.
Bryce Young (Mater Dei, Santa Ana)
The Heisman Trophy winner for Alabama and No. 1 overall draft pick by the Carolina Panthers played varsity as a freshman and sophomore at Cathedral of Los Angeles. Counting his two seasons at Mater Dei, Bryce had 13,250 yards passing and 152 career TD passes.
So Who’s Going to Make It After This Season?
Three senior QBs right now had more than 8,000 career yards at the start of the current season, led by Zac Benitez from Granite Hills of El Cajon and including Brady Edmunds of Huntington Beach and Jelani Dippel of Fresno Central East. Edmunds and Dippel also already have gone past 100 career TD passes this season. Benitez had 92 career TD passes to start this season. Last week, Koa Regalado of Colton also went past 100 career TD passes. After his first two games this season, Koa also had 7,688 career yards.
