As the NorCal and SoCal regional playoffs begin this week, we run down the first round matchups in our latest State Top 30 boys basketball rankings. CIF Central Section D1 champ St. Joseph gets the No. 2 seed in SoCal open, but that doesn’t mean it moved up to No. 2 in the state. It also means its road to the CIF State open title game on March 15 is more difficult. The decision to send St. Joe’s South affects open playoff pairings in both regions. Also see what the various CIF section title games did to shuffle our award-winning weekly rankings. Our in depth blurbs separate us from everyone else and for the fourth straight year, our No. 1 team beat No. 2 in the CIFSS Open Division title game.
