The theme in this week’s State Top 30 boys basketball rankings is not penalizing ranked teams for losing against teams ranked higher or when facing tough out-of-state competition. The real change could come if teams are swept in league competition or take an untimely loss in a league tournament in the coming weeks. State powers Mater Dei and Sierra Canyon are grinding out wins the best way they know how and could shake up the rankings next week by winning key games in the Trinity and Mission Leagues, respectively. Only one team takes a bad loss in the Top 30 that caused some changes.
