Boys BB: Divisional All-State 2023

The 44th annual Cal-Hi Sports all-state boys basketball teams roll on with the release of these honor squads according to the same six divisions in which this year’s CIF state championships were completed. The task of slotting all-state boys basketball into divisions gets more and more difficult (thanks to competitive equity seedings for playoffs), but we are happy to continue the tradition. All of the great players in our great state are worth the effort.

*Note: The division placement of schools (and players from those schools for all-state) is based on the same divisions that teams were placed for the CIF regional playoffs. Section playoff placement also was used for teams that were not in the regionals. We also looked at each team and the team it lost to in the playoffs and followed the line of teams to CIF regionals. In some cases, it also was an estimation of which divisions those teams would be in. Sorry, but we cannot go through every nominated player and determine a separate divisional placement based on traditional factors such as enrollment. Well more than a third of the players already have to have divisional placement figured out even going by the CIF regional divisions.

Special thanks to Ronnie Flores for contributions to these teams.

What’s your criteria for such selections? You definitely didn’t get to see everyone of these teams play.
