Top 5 NFL, NBA, MLB Calif. Coach Wins

With head coach Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs moving into the top five on the NFL all-time wins list (playoffs included), we were inspired to look up the top five from California high schools in the major sports of football, basketball and baseball.

Reid, who is a graduate from Marshall High of Los Angeles and will soon be inducted into the CIF L.A. City Section Hall of Fame, earned his 230th win in an NFL career that began in 1992 with the Philadelphia Eagles when his current squad beat the Carolina Panthers last Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs, of course, won the first Super Bowl in Reid’s career last January with a come-from-behind victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

In looking over the NFL all-time coaching wins list, none of the four coaches still ahead of Reid are from California high schools. He would therefore be first among those head coaches who are from the state.
