NEW State Top 50 FB Rankings (1-25)

Senior receiver Kody Epps of No. 1 Mater Dei has caught five TD passes in each of his last two games. We don’t know if that’s ever happened in California history before, but he has become only the third player to join the all-time state list with five or more twice in the same season. One of the others is John McKay Jr. of La Puente Bishop Amat, who caught five TD passes against Mater Dei in a 1970 game. Photo: @MDFootball / Twitter.com.

It’s time for the top two of the state (and nation) to meet again but a CIF Southern Section D1 title and trip to the CIF Open Division state final are up for grabs for the winner. The big rankings move is placing CIF San Diego Section Open Division champion Helix of La Mesa fifth. We also have upward shifts for Sierra Canyon, Grace Brethren with Monterey Trail jumping way up there into the top 20 after its earth-shaking win over previous No. 6 Folsom.
