Sac-Joaquin Top 5: Defensive Backs

We are happy to say that for the sixth straight year the CalHiSports.com web site and Cal-Hi Sports is going to be part of the weekly Final Quarter high school football show on Friday nights on the FOX 40 station in Sacramento.

On last week’s eighth show for the 2018 season, we revealed our list for the Top 5 defensive backs for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. Here is what that countdown revealed:

1. Isaiah Rutherford (Jesuit, Carmichael)
One of the top cornerback recruits in the country, Isaiah has numerous college offers. He’s also a top running back at Jesuit who had nearly 1,500 yards rushing last season.

2. Levelle Bailey (Burbank, Sacramento)
He already has 50 tackles and two interceptions this season and is one of the top grid-hoop athletes in Northern California. Levelle also is starring as Burbank’s quarterback this season.

3. Tyler Green (Christian Brothers, Sacramento)
Three-year standout for the Falcons had 15 career interceptions after seven games this season and also had 21 career touchdown catches as a receiver.

4. Alvin Banks (Cordova, Rancho Cordova)
We could have listed him earlier for receivers but he had eight interceptions last season and we’re going with him on defense instead.

5. Trey Paster (Buhach Colony, Atwater)
Talented junior has one pick six already this year and has offers from Arizona and Nevada.

This 30-minute show is twice as long as any other Friday night high school football show in the Sacramento market and is returning to the Friday at 11 p.m. time slot.

Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be a look at the five most recent starting quarterbacks in the NFL from the SJS. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region, including the Fan Favorite Game of the Week. Thanks to host Jim Crandell and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.
