Kazmeir Allen of Tulare heads into Friday game vs. Serra of San Mateo having already set four new state scoring records. We’ve now added all of those categories into our on-line state record book. We also have updated all of the state single-season receiving records with final totals for Murrieta Valley’s Marquis Spiker and Mozes Mooney of La Jolla Bishop’s. Plus, there’’s another newly added state record list for regular season rushing. Go inside to see which 2017 season players are on that list.

Note: This post is free for all to see and we hope you like it. All of the actual state record lists, however, are for Gold Club members only. We are going to continue to add more and more of these lists as our site continues to grow. To join the Gold Club, CLICK HERE.

It was widely reported two weeks ago when Tulare’s Kazmeir Allen broke the single-season state scoring record of 64 touchdowns set in 2000 by Ventura’s Tyler Ebell.

But it’s probably not as well-known that Allen, who also just last week committed to UCLA, actually already has four new state records with his senior season still not done.

Allen added four more scores after his record-setting night and now has an ongoing state record of 70 touchdowns entering his team’s CIF Northern California D2-AA regional title game against Serra of San Mateo.

Since then, we have compiled an updated list of single-season state scoring records and have now added those lists onto our online state record book.

In addition to season TDs, Kazmeir also is the new state record holder for most touchdowns in a regular season, most point scored in a season and most points scored for a regular season.

Allen’s 55 regular season TDs broke the previous record of 50 set in 1998 by Onterrio Smith from Grant of Sacramento. For most points scored, he’s got 420 before playing Serra and is the first player in state history to score 400 points or more. Ebell also was the previous record holder in that category with 388 points. Then for most points scored regular season, Allen’s total of 330 eclipsed the previous record of 304 set in 1999 by Jermaine Marshall from Camp Kilpatrick of Malibu.

The all-time list just added cuts off at 45 TDs for one season and there are no other players from this season (yet) who are are that high. Both Joseph Garcia of Strathmore (44 TDs) and Branden Rankins from Aquinas of San Bernardino (41 TDs) could play two more games.

Note that on the MaxPreps season list that Theori Oliver of Alameda Encinal is shown with 49 TDs this year. After looking into that total more closely, however, Oliver has 49 TDs for combined rushing and passing and not scoring.

Career Receiving Records

These lists that involved 2017 players Marquis Spiker of Murrieta Valley, Mozes Mooney of La Jolla Bishop’s and Emoryie Edwards of Tulare already were added to our online records, but now they’re all updated after last week and with Spiker and Mooney wrapped up for their careers.

Spiker moved past the state record of 66 TDs set in 2000 by Ervin Johnson of Los Angeles Cathedral with a four-TD game in Murrieta Valley’s CIFSS D1 playoff win over Santa Margarita. The Nighthawks lost their next game to Corona Centennial so Spiker ended with 72. When he broke the record, it was possible that Mooney might go past it since he was sitting at 64 heading into the playoffs. Mooney didn’t get that high. Bishop’s was upset in its first San Diego Section playoff game and Mooney’s final total ended at 66.

Spiker also capped his career with 244 catches for 4,461 yards. The yardage total is third highest in state history.

As for Mooney, he had more career catches than Spiker with 276, which is fourth best in state history. The four-year standout also finished with 3,954 receiving yards.

Edwards, of course, still has at least one game left. His recent receiving totals have been overshadowed with Allen’s rushing, but if the Tribe were to beat Serra and then play in the CIF D2-AA state final Edwards could wind up in the top five for career yards and catches. His current totals: 262 catches for 4,267 yards and 45 TDs.

Most Rushing Yards (Regular Season)

No one from this season came close to the all-time state record of 3,354 yards for David Dotson of Moreno Valley Valley View that was set in 10 games in 1991. Please note that the record for a nine-game regular season of 2,445 set in 1975 by Whittier Christian’s Craig Johnston also still stands.

Here is a list of players from the 2017 season that have been added to the all-time list, which is a rather massive one compared to other football categories:

Zaquand Irby (Ganesha, Pomona) Jr. | Chris Melesio (Norte Vista, Riverside) Jr.
Alex Jung (Sunny Hills, Fullerton) | K.C. Carr (Tustin)
Manny Ridge (Desert Mirage, Thermal) | Justin Keeling (Valley View, Moreno Valley)

Question, who holds the single season rushing record for a freshmen? And do have records showing season rushing at each grade level?

We don’t have records by class but the lists are deep enough that you should be able to figure it out.
Pretty sure Toby Gerhart rushed for 1500 yards or so in his freshman year at Norco. That would be the guy to start with in looking up that one.
