Here is what that countdown revealed:

1. Ariel Ngata (Folsom) Sr.
The area’s top linebacker prospect has committed to Washington where he’ll join former Folsom Bulldog Jake Browning.

2. Jake Bellecci (Elk Grove) Sr.
Returning All-Metro player helped the Herd reach last year’s Division I section final.

3. E.J. Larry (Sacramento) Sr.
He’s averaging 13 tackles per game, including 18 when the Dragons upset Folsom.

4. Mustafa Noel Johnson (Turlock) Sr.
Regarded as the best LB in the 209, Johnson has helped the Bulldogs rise in the section rankings.

5. Kaderro Tamondong (Franklin, Elk Grove) Sr.
He had 18 tackles in his first game and has rushed for more than 130 yards in a game.

Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be the top five defensive backs this season from the Sac-Joaquin Section. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region, including the Fan Favorite game of the week between Rio Americano and El Camino. Thanks to host Jim Crandell and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.
